Hi Tricia,

I have a suggestion with your ADD condition. Are you on any supplements? I have a nutrition and wellness business. A couple of products that I carry have shown tremendous benefits for individuals with ADD. The first would be Omega III. Even if you are already on them not all Omega's are created equal. The product I carry has a high amount of EPA and DHA and 2 of these capsules give you 3 grams of Omegas and it is an FDA supported product. The next one is OPC-3. This is an anitoxidant which helps with the toxicity of your body and has many other beneifts. If you would like some testamonials on people who have been on these 2 products and got tremendous results I could email them to you. If this interests you check out www.marketamerica.com/sheran and look under health and nutrition for these 2 products. You can read up on the ingredients and science behind the products. If you have any questions please let me know.

Hi Cindy! In regard to the information you provided regarding possible causes of ADD anytime I've tried to eliminate carbohydrates from my diet the cravings are so strong that I find myself shoveling loads of (especially) refined sugars. I also have problems with candida albicans and bacterial vaginitis, B-12 deficiencies and ferrous sulfate deficiencies. I had an "ah-ha" moment when you responded. Now that you have more information on my physical issues can you make some suggestions as to how to alter my diet to improve my problems including ADD?

Thank you so much! This is a fabulous site to be a part of!

Sorry Tricia....I somehow missed your comment on my Nutrition and Mental Health post which is why I haven't yet responded!

As with every health issue it is always important to get to the root cause. ADD can be causes by a variety of things or combinations of things:

1. Food allergies (sensitivities or intolerances) that effect brain chemistry
2. Heavy metal toxicity in the body.....particularly mercury and lead
3. Toxicity from environmental pollutants
4. Nutritional deficits that impede detoxification of metals and pollutants, and impair neurotransmitter function (these are the brain chemicals that control our moods)
5. Thyroid disorders particularly hypothyroidism which impairs cognitive function and energy

Does any of this strike a chord with you? Often when you just take some of the allergenic foods out of your diet it can make a huge difference. One of the ways I can tell what your problem foods are is by asking the question: what foods do you feel drawn too? What are your favorites that you couldn't live without?
