Wings of Life

While going through some old boxes recently, I came across this wonderful book called Wings of Life by Julie Jordan. Why it was not on my bookshelf with my vast collection is beyond me....but I was so thrilled to finally find it and devour its pages once again.
This was the book I read back in the late 70's that convinced me that vegetarianism was for me. It is beautifully written, packed full of fantastic recipes made entirely from scratch with nothing but the purest ingredients and completely and utterly entertaining. The author has such an appreciation and passion for food and it is contagious to all who read this book.

From the detailed instructions on how to make home made bread, to cooking charts for just about every grain and bean under the sun, this book is priceless. Julie Jordan goes to great lengths to describe every vegetarian option out there and over the years I have made every recipe in this book much to the pleasure of all my friends and family who have loved everything I have prepared and served. Be warned, though, some of her recipes are a bit heavy but easily adaptable (cheese and cream in some ). This was written long there were such things as veggie burgers and processed soy cheese.
This book will give you a new appreciation for whole food at its finest. You will fall in love with the lowly kidney bean and grain of brown rice and feel you are best friends with the author when you are finished!
I highly recommend this book to anyone curious about vegetarianism, looking for an instruction manual on cooking grains, beans, etc, or anyone who has a love and passion for REAL food!.

I doubt you will find it at your local bookstore but can be ordered and is also available on Amazon.com.
