I have fibromyalgia which makes it hard to exercise, does anyone have any tips, exercise and food wise which could help me lose about 15 - 20 lbs?

The good news is that weight loss is about 80% what you put in the mouth (though I think exercise like yoga would be very beneficial for your fibromyalgia). My question is: what is your diet like now? Do you eat more processed foods? diet drinks? white foods (flour, sugar etc)?

I would suggest going to see a Naturopathic Dr. or a Holistic Nutritionist if you haven't already. Rather than worrying about weight loss how about shifting your focus to getting yourself better. If you deal with the underlying causes of the Fibromyalgia the weight will fall off naturally. Have you considered what those underlying causes might be? It is really common to find Candidiasis, food sensitivities, thyroid problems, hypoglycemia and low adrenal function in people with Fibromyalgia.....does any of this ring a bell?

Great answer..a good naturopath will change your life. When you heal and balance the body, reaching your ideal weight is usually the result. I can also suggest The Orman Institute of Natural Health. Dr. David Orman has a Personalized Health CD for those who do not have access to a naturopath. www.personalizedhealthcd.com

Hi Laura,
I do not have fibromyalgia, but I know of a couple of people who do. Both people that I know of are taking ATP Pro and they say that it helps them to be able to do more. Read more about it at:
http://www.shop.enivausa.com/406378/en-us/product.aspx?id=11007

They also take a liquid all-in-one vitamin and mineral supplement called VIbe. You can read about Vibe on the above website too or you can go straight in through my website: www.RunningHealthy.com Now the ATP-Pro, I have tried and it has a pleasant taste and it can be mixed in water or any juice. I took it to help give me an extra boost for running and I would say that it helped me for that. Now, I also mentioned Vibe and as I stated, it is a vitamin and mineral liquid supplement. One bottle lasts you a full month. I take Vibe every day and it has given me an increase in my energy levels and aided in helping me focus more efficiently. Vibe is a liquid nutraceutical, therefore allowing the body to absorb it right away and your body will digest about 97% of it, where as pills and tablets one typically absorbs only 7-10%. Many of us are lacking in minerals and vitamins due to our soils being depleted and with cooking, especially when one uses the microwave that pretty much destroys any nutrients. Also, with Vibe, being that you are giving your body what it needs, often times one may lose weight because you now are not getting the cravings as one used to, due to the fact that the body now has it's needs fulfilled. Have you ever found yourself going to the pantry for something, but not knowing what you want, but you just feel that need to have something? That is your body telling you something and with Vibe you are giving it the vitamins and minerals that it needs. If you were to consider taking Vibe or ATP-Pro, it is typically recommended to start with Vibe and be on that for about 6-8 weeks so the body can properly adjust and then one can introduce more supplements if needed. I am an independent representative for Eniva, which makes the above stated products and so if you were interested in purchasing, I would be grateful if you were to purchase through the links I have listed for you. Again my site: www.RunningHealthy.com

Another thing as far as weightloss and your fibromyalgia and something that I have incorporated into my diet and that is coconut oil. There are so many awesome benefits to coconut oil - go to this website to read more on coconut oil and fibromyalgia: http://www.westonaprice.org/moderndiseases/fibromyalgia.html

I have gone on enough and I hope that I will have been able to help you. Feel free to contact me at anytime. Have a great day!

Absolutely...fibromyalgia is a potentially debilitating condition. I have helped patient's with it and I also have a sister-in-law with it. Wow, a person could write a book discussing this. Regarding exercise; take it slow...if you don't currently exercise, start with walking, pilates or yoga. Make sure any instructor you would use understands your condition. When muscles are achey and sore, have a soak or scrub that you can use to alleviate the stress in the muscles. I would recommend something with sea salt or a soak with freeze-dried sea water. The natural powers of the ocean will help more than you can imagine! Then in regard to the diet, you want a comprehensive, safe and yet effective plan. Instead of typing and typing, check out www.gofigure8.com. I always want to be upfront....I do promote these products, they do have a 45 day money back guarantee and you can purchaes them at cost.
Thanks and best of luck,

try higher protein intake, with lower carbs. following an on the job injury I have been more or less sedentary and I dropped 20lbs by going gluten free after I developped a Gluten inolerance...

Also follow the glycemic index and eat foods very low on the scale.

you should also find your pain diminished somewhat by doing this.
