I live in the US and was wondering where most of you have gone for a Holistic Nutrition Program. I have heard that Integrative in NYC is decent but highly commercialized and has lost some of its integrity. I am a personal trainer/ massage therapist/ and soon to be Yoga instructor. I am looking for a program that educates you on the benefits of food as medicine. Something that has a focus on whole foods. Any info you guys have would be awesome! Have a great day!
Hey Amy, I am currently working towards a bachelors in Holistic Nutrition at Clayton College (home study course) based out of Alabama. I have been completely impressed with the course material and It has worked out really well for me and my needs! Best of Luck!
I am a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NY. It is a wonderful school with an awesome support system. I graduated in 2000 and still keep in touch with folks. It is a great community of health minded, evolved and concerned individuals from all over the country. I think it is worth looking into, although it is quite costly at this point. The tuition is around $9,000 now. When I attended it was about $2500.
I am seriously considering repeating the program again in the fall...It's THAT good!!! It is not JUST a school....it is LIFE CHANGING and it certainly changed my life.
For more info check out their website @ www.integrativenutrition.com
Hope this helps
I would HIGHLY recommend their program. I am a huge fan of the program and of all the speakers and instructors that they bring in to teach. I don't know about being highly commercialized, because they are the black sheep to mainstream nutritional education. They teach the most current and researched nutritional information and challenge the nutritional society and governments to rethink their recommending approach to nutrition.
I have researched all the available holistic nutrition programs available in the US for the past 2 years to decide on what program I wanted to take. I have decided on this one.
I completely support their holistic whole food approach to nutrition and will be taking their courses myself once I graduate from Parker College of Chiropractic in a few years. I am currently studying to be a Doctor of Chiropractic and plan to continue my education of holistic nutrition even further with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition's program.
I hope this helps. I wish you the best in all your endeavors.
hi, amy :) i'm also a clayton college student, working on their bachelor's in holistic nutrition. if distance ed works for you, this is an excellent program. i'd be happy to give you details or answer any questions if you're interested.
how long have you been an MT? i'm a licensed therapist in louisiana...i love how well the two fields (bodywork and nutrition) can be integrated.
Hi Amy - I went to The Academy Of Healing Nutrition in NYC. Visit their website at http://academyhealingnutrition.com/. I highly, HIGHLY recommend going and even more so checking out an orientation. I went and loved every minute of it and now I have my own private practice called NAO Nutrition, www.naonutrition.com in NYC and a virtual office as well so I can be reached all over the world to help others. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you so much for the information. I deff. will check it out. And I would like to talk to you more about this.
I work out of Jersey City and a lot of my clients work in NY and I have been looking for someone in this area that has a more holistic approach that I can refer people too. I will check out your site and get in touch with you when I have a chance. I am in the process of taking two exams right now.
