Hi. Does any one have any suggestions for me about short stature and low weight gain? My son is 4 years old, and Drs have been concerned about this issue his whole little life. We recently went to an endo and discovered that he is deficient in IGF-1 (a growth hormone factor). They want to do more tests, and will eventually offer us growth hormone injections. We are very natural in our approach to health and medicine. So, i am very hesitant to go further with all this. I am wondering if there is a way to approach it through nutrition or supplements? Does any one know and have experience with this issue? Does any one know of where I could gain more resources on this topic?
THANKS SO MUCH!

I believe that there are herbs and minerals available to help us with every ailment. I recently became a herb, mineral and detox distributor and am working on the wisdom of which products help with specific health concerns. I am going to check with my friend and herb specialist to see if she has any recommendations for you. I will reply back to you as soon as I have some more information. Are there any other health concerns?

We did just discover through an IgG allergy test that he is allergic to eggs and garlic. Garlic of all things! But other than that, we are not aware of anything else. Oh, he does also have an IgA deficiency. Any thoughts?

I had a client with this same concern and so I did a bit of research awhile back.....unfortunately it was too far back for me to remember my findings and the resources where I found them! I'm at my cottage for the next few weeks, but I think I may have some info for you on my home computer. I do remember finding a link between autism and growth hormone (either too much or too little) and wonder if you contact a DAN! (Defeat Autism Now) practitioner if they may offer you any insight. I know this may seem like a strange recommendation, but the way DAN! practitioners treat autism is biomedical, combining conventional and natural approaches....usually very holistic and very progressive. Seeing as this is an issue they might be familiar with treating, they may be able to offer up some resources or advice. Perhaps you could look for a DAN! in your area and make a phone call. I don't know if it applies, but there is a link specifically between mercury toxicity in kids with Autism and growth hormone. My thinking as a Nutritionist, off the top of my head, would be to supplement with Amino Acids because that would increase levels of growth hormone; specifically L-Glutamine and L-Argenine.

I'll get back to you....HTH in the meantime!
