I am looking into a whole house water filtration system. Can anyone advise on which method is best. I am in south Florida and lately my tap water has been smelling strong like chlorine. I obviously dont drink it but dont want to continue with the 5 gallon bottle delivery due to waste and the bottles being just as toxic as tap in most cases! If anyone has any brand recomendations as well!! Much appreciated!

Hello Staci

Your profile is definitly interesting. It's awesome that foodspark gives us a place to network with like minded people who share the same enthusiasm for optimal health through nutrition. Your Water Filtration discussion board gives me the impression that it's not just ppl in Toronto that have that problem.
I can understand your concern as water plays such an important role in practically every organ & function of our bodies.
You mentioned that you are using the 5 gallon bottles. Are you using any other filters or systems(ie, Ceramic Filters, Pitcher Type/Pour-through filters, Pressed Carbon Block, Mineral Pots, Hollow Fiber, Ultra-Violet Light, Reverse Osmosis...)?

You expressed your resentment for chlorine odour, If you could change anything else about the water that you drink what would it be?

I have not had my water tested to know specifically what is in it. My concern is VOC's, MTBE,Lead and Chlorine. At the moment my city does not flouridate the water.

From what you have told me, you are looking for cleaner, safer, better-tasting/smelling water. Is that fair to say?

We're you able to find anything yet?

I am currently looking for one myself. Very ironic! Early this morning I was looking at different sites online. I need to be economical and but want the best system. Looking forward to anyone who knows of a great product.

eSpring offers a filtration/purification sytem which is only 7 cents/litre. I just bought one and it's amazing. If you want details, go online at eSpring.com

I uploaded this link of a comparison chart. If you are trying to purchase any water filter, use this comparison chart 1st to help you make an educated decision as to which would be the best choice.
It also helps when u don't know much about filters and are trying to find out what are the key issues in deciding what's better.

Take a look at clfree.com, and give them a call. The perfect system, it seems like, but the price is steep. Tell them to shut up and listen long enough for you to tell them what you want and what kind of money you can spend. Good company, but the sales people can be tough to get a word in edgewise with.

Man that thing looks cool. but I don't know if it would be worth the cost. it looks really expensive. do you know how much it goes for?

For an average size house, it's in the 3k-4k range. If you've got a mansion or a larger than Olympic-size pool, it'll be more like 6k.

Speaking of pools, their system provides bottled-quality water for pools, as well.
