I read Ultrametabolism and made a lot of changes to my diet, for the better I thought. Since then I have started getting sick more and more. First once a month, then once a week, now twice a week. I almost threw up in the grocery store today, and I am losing sleep and being unreliable at work and with friends. My life is becoming intolerable. I was wondering if anyone may know what is happeing or what I can do? I don't eat wheat, dairy, eggs, or soy and I only have sugar very very rarely. I have increased my intake of fruits and veggies and occasionally supplament with vitamin B100 complex and herbs like milk thistle and oregano oil. I always take the min recommended doses because I am only 100 pounds and I don't take pills every day. Help?

HI JC,
It's very hard on limited information to really assess what might be going on, but perhaps the nausea is a sign of your body detoxing. Mind you it has been going on a while and becoming progressive by the sounds of it, and usually a detox will start out strong and grow weaker and be done within a matter of weeks. However, if you carried a lot of toxicity, it's possible that by making major changes in your diet, and eliminating possible allergens, it is continuing. For nausea, you could try ginger or peppermint tea, it may help. I wonder also if you're eating enough proteins and complex carbs? But I really recommend that you consult with a holistic nutritionist and/or your doctor for a more thorough assessment. Good luck! I'd be interested to know if you do follow up with someone what they assess and if their recommendations make a difference, if you're willing to post a follow up...

A friend of mine told me what they would do if I were a cat (she is vet) and it was a whole bunch of very intrusive tests, so now I really don't want to see a doc again. I am pretty sure I have cyclic vomiting syndrome, but it only happens if it is triggered, and I thought my only trigger was soy so I have avoided it for years. I tried it in recent times twice and confirmed it as a trigger. I wonder though if by doing that I have made my body sensitive to it. I notice a lot of supplements use soy bean oil. Also, other soy products are in lots of foods, even dark chocolate. I am trying to completely eliminate all soy and I generally don't eat prepackaged processed food anyway so this is fairly easy to do. I know I am triggered by chemicals and we have been renovating my bathroom for the past three weeks, so possibly that has something to do with this, but I am not sure. Yesterday I was in the grocery store so I doubt chemicals in the air was a trigger in that instance. But are you saying it may be a carb/fat/protein imbalance? I have been keeping a food journal on FitDay under the name Deoxyribose, so you could take a look and let me know what you think?

Hi JC - can you give me a rough idea what changes you have made to your diet, what did Ultrametabolism recommend you to do? How long have you been getting sick? What are your reasons for wanting to change your diet? Sorry for so many questions, but it gives me a better idea of what's going on.

It started about two months ago, but I've been following the Ultrametabolism recommendations for about 6 months.

I am trying to control acne and PTSD with diet.

Ok, how often do you take oil of oregano? Are you on medication for acne? Do you or did you feel better following the Ultrametabolism recommendations? Have you seen a Doctor re being sick? EFT (emotional freedom technique) might be something to think about re PTSD.

Hi JC,
This sounds really rotten......I'm sorry you feel so crappy :(
I really think you ought to talk with your G.P. to rule out anything more serious before anything else. It's possible it could be a sort of healing crisis, or perhaps a reaction to something you're eating or taking (oil of oregano doesn't agree with everybody)....but you best not experiment too much before you make sure that the doc doesn't see anything else going on.

I've only taken in twice so far. I am trying to control yeast with that one. I waited for a month for it to come in the mail and it just recently came so I haven't had too much experience with it yet. I lost weight right away when eliminating all the stuff from my diet, so I must be allergic to one of the items I eliminated. Doc wants an allergy test done, have to wait until sept and drive to another city. I won't go. EFT caused a panic attack. I have PTSD.

Sorry......I just read your above post about not wanting to see a doctor. Yeah.....some of those tests are pretty horrible, but if this has been going on for awhile and is getting increasingly worse it's not a good sign. What's your intuition on this one? Do you feel like it could be something serious?

I think I am feeling it could be serious, but may not be yet, but I think I may be in denial about what is going on as well. I really don't want to be subjected to doc's invasive techniques unless I have to. I hate doc's they have never helped me. If it keeps going on like this, twice a week, I will have to see one though. I am waiting to see what will happen next I guess.

I would highly recommend seeing a Naturopathic Doctor. They have as much training as conventional doctors, but take a very natural and non-invasive approach to treatment. If you saw one they would be able to better assess the situation and determine whether conventional testing and treatments are necessary. Where do you live?

Try monitoring what you are eating and writing down when you feel like you are going to be sick. You might see a direct correlation with what you are eating and when you feel sick.
