I'm looking for suggestions for lines of organic and natural make up that are closest to the consistency and durability of "normal" make up. I know that in a perfect world we would all be glowing and have perfect skin, but if you have food allergies like me and are doing everything to try to control them, chances are that your skin is showing the struggle. I would like make up with no parabens, ethyl lauryl sulphates, and anything else that I can't pronounce and is a preservative.

Also recipes for natural skin care are welcome!!!

Hi! I don't know if Mineral Makeup is considered all natural and organic or not, but it is touted to be really good for your skin, and that "you can even sleep in it"... I've been using it for a while, and quite like the effect since it feels like you have nothing on your face but it evens out skin tone and eliminates shine.

There is a great online site where you can look up different products and name brands and get info about risks or known health concerns with the different products and ingredients used. http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/browse.php?maincat=makeup

Thanks Audrey! I actually went to Shoppers Drug Mart, and they are carrying a new line of organic (only 19%, but hey, that's better than nothing!) but more importantly free of preservatives skin care (foundation, blush, bronzer). I can actually pronounce most of the ingredients! I think that it's made by the same company that makes Physician's Formula.

I'm going to try it and I'll let you know how it goes

Hi Ashley,

I was looking for the same... and found Australian Brand ~ 'miessence'. It's brilliant stuff with briliant ethics and is in line completely with the study and work that I do (Holistic Health Coaching) so I became an agent for them here in England.

I have now swapped all my dermalogica skincare, MAC makeup and Neals Yard Shower Products for Miessence and it's all great... my skin is looking better than ever :-)

Check it out: www.holisticallyfit.co.uk

Hope that helps...

Lisa :-)

That's great, Lisa .... thanks for the heads up! Are the products selling successfully? Are you making a profit from them (if you don't mind me asking)? I'm just curious as I am just starting up my own nutritional practice (www.purevitality.ca) and I would consider carrying an organic make up line just because there really aren't any good ones out there that carry a complete line. Any information would be great!

Ciao, Ashley

Hello again Ashley,

I've only just started with it, but at the very least I'm getting 30% off the prices for my own use :-) I have studies to get through so have put the miessence on 'hold' for a couple of months. Once my studies are complete I will start to market it with postcard drops/handouts, links on organic sites etc. In the meantime I've been telling my friends about it and they are excited and will try the products too :-)

Have a read of all the info on my website and register your interest on there if you want to have your own business/website etc.

Keep in touch,

Lisa :-)

Ashley,

That is great that you are being proactive in your search for a healthy make up line. Unfortunately, we too often over look that the largest organ is our skin. Everything we eat, breathe, wear affects are overall health. It seems parabens have gotten quite the rap lately. Parabens are actually found in blueberries. They are a naturally occurring preservative. If there isn't anything to stabilize a product, it can get ransid and create harmful bacteria. FYI. Anyways, for suggestions, there is a fabulous line called Minerelles by Shaklee Corp. it is natural and works fabulously. In addition they have a terrific skin care line called Enfuselle. I have tried a lot of skin care and make up lines over the years and all but this have either broken me out or done nothing. My skin has a glow, it's soft and the make up doesn't feel like it's caked on. My skin can actually breathe. Here is website if you would like to check it out. http://www.shaklee.net/jdsamuel/prodPerResearch

Hope that helps.

Hi Ashley! I use a natural line of skin care and makeup from Origins. Most of the time, Origins can be found in Dillards in any mall.

I truly enjoy it and it smells wonderful! They have bath products as well.
