I'm finally getting around to reading this fantastic book after months of it sitting on my nightstand. I can't recommend it enough, Michael Pollan is an awesome writer who explains how "Nutritionism" or food science has affected the health of our society in a negative way. The slogan on the book is "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants". What it really comes down to is eating a diet of whole foods, as they are found in nature, is the ONLY way of eating which is truly health supporting.....and we don't need a science degree or a "Nutrition Facts" table to prove it.

I agree, not only does the book show a better way to eat, it also shows how the government/FDA/food lobby has conspired to help create the nutritional dilemna this country is facing. It's no wonder people are so confused. This book will help simplify what should go in your mouth!

I'm currently reading his other book The Omnivore's Dilemma. It's great too. He follows 4 meals from field to plate through Industrial agriculture, industrial organic, small scale organic and finally hunter-gatherer. Right now I'm reading about industrial corn and it's pretty scary!

Sounds like a good book Rebecca. I'm trying to make more time for reading, and this looks like something I could get through quickly.
